Thousand Layer Lasagna

Spaghetti Carbonara

Ingredients

  • 1 box of lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 jars marinara sauce
  • 1 container ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil and parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook until fragrant and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  7. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  8. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  12. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil and parsley if desired. Serve and enjoy!
